THE Senate of the Philippines will move to its new and own building on the latter part of the year 2024.
According to Senate Majority Leader Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, that is the target date to move to a new building that can be used by senators whose terms will end on 2025.
The new building is being built at the Naval Village in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Construction of the building was started in February 2020 with a budget of P8.9 billion.
The target date of completion of July 2021 was not met since construction was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Senator Ping Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III pushed for the construction of the new building, which will become the permanent home of the Senate since the Upper Chamber of Congress spends more than P100 million in rent for its current location at the GSIS Building in Pasay City,.
