The RP Blu Girls ended their campaign at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in fourth place after falling to Chinese Taipei, 12-2, in the women’s softball bronze medal game on 03 October 2026 at the Anjo Softball Ground.
Backed by Cebuana Lhuillier, the Philippine national women’s softball team missed out on a podium finish but closed the tournament after overcoming a difficult start to work its way back into medal contention.
Chinese Taipei seized control of the bronze medal game early, scoring four runs in the first inning before adding eight more in the second.
The Blu Girls responded with two runs in the third inning, with Nicole Adra Hammoude driving in both runs. Hammoude recorded a hit and scored once, while Mylia Isabel Perez also crossed home plate. Ma. Angelu Gabriel and Reyae Mae Villamin contributed one hit each as the Philippines finished with four hits against Chinese Taipei’s 13.
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President and Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier praised the national team for its performance throughout the Games.
“Of course, we wanted to see the Blu Girls come home with a medal, but this campaign gave us many reasons to be proud. They faced some of the strongest teams in Asia, fought their way back after a difficult start, and never stopped competing for the flag,” Lhuillier said.
“That resilience is what defines this team. We will continue to support them, build on everything we learned here, and keep working toward the day Philippine softball finally reaches that Asian Games podium,” he added.
The Philippines opened its campaign with losses to Japan and Chinese Taipei before bouncing back with three consecutive victories. The Blu Girls defeated Korea, 7-3, shut out Thailand, 7-0, and dominated Singapore, 10-0.
A 7-0 loss to China followed, but the Filipinas remained in contention and defeated Hong Kong, China, 9-3, to secure a place in the bronze medal game.
Japan captured the women’s softball gold medal after defeating the People’s Republic of China, 7-0, in the championship game later on October 3 at the Anjo Softball Ground. China took silver, while Chinese Taipei claimed bronze with its victory over the Philippines.
Despite missing the podium, the fourth-place finish gave the Blu Girls another high-level international campaign as the national team continues its push for a breakthrough Asian Games softball medal.
