New COVID-19 cases remain at 4k level

THE Department of Health (DOH) today reported that new COVID-19 cases rose to 4,509, which is slightly higher than yesterday’s 4,479 total, according to the latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, June 30, 2021.

Also, the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country reached 1,412,559, with 48,649 listed as active cases or patients who are currently being treated in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.

The DOH also logged 5,839 new recoveries from the COVID-19 disease today, which is lower than the 6,471 recoveries recorded yesterday.

Currently, there are now 1,339,248 individuals listed as total recoveries.

A total of 105 cases were added to the list of COVID-19 deaths today, which is higher than the 101 cases recorded yesterday. This brings to 24,662 the total number of COVID-19 fatalities.

There were also 49 cases previously reported as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.

Seven duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which five were recoveries. In addition, one case was found to have tested negative and has been removed from the total case count. This is a recovery.

Meanwhile, positivity rate is at 11.3 percent from 35,816 people who were tested.

Majority, or 94.6 percent of the cases, are mild and asymptomatic.

All laboratories were operational on June 28, 2021 while six laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the six non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.6 percent of samples tested and 2.2 percent of positive individuals.

The DOH continues to remind the public that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
