More Moderna COVID-19 vaccines arrive in PH

AROUND 326,400 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from Moderna arrived today, August 8, at around 3:30 p.m. via Singapore Airlines Flight SQ912 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Out of the total doses procured via a tripartite agreement, 224,400 doses will go to the Philippine government while the remaining 102,000 doses will go to ICTSI.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., who received the vaccines on behalf of the Philppines, expressed gratitude to the private sector for the tripartite agreement in the purchase of the vaccine doses. He said this is one of the government’s major procurements with ICTSI.

Galvez also reported during a short briefing that so far, the government has already administered 24,174,821 doses of various vaccines, wherein almost 13 million Filipinos have already received their first dose, while 11.2 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated. This represents 5.88 percent of the targeted eligible population of Filipinos 18 years old and above, which is also 10.13 percent of the entire population.

On hand to welcome the vaccines aside from Galvez were Raymond Azurin, Senior VP Corporate Affairs of Zuellig Pharma Corp., Department of Health Director Ariel Valencia, and Bureau of Customs District Collector Carmelita Talusan.
