THE Court of Appeals (CA) granted the request of Rappler CEO Maria Ressa to travel to Oslo, Norway to personally receive the Nobel Peace Prize 2021 during awarding ceremonies to be held on December 10.
In an eight-page resolution penned by the CA Special 7th Division, it also set some conditions for allowing Ressa’s Urgent Motion to Travel Abroad to Oslo, Norway from December 8-13, 2021.
The appellate court emphasized that attending the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo, Norway and other related activities as stated in the confirmation and invitation letter to Ressa are the ones approved by the CA.
Ressa was also asked to pay a travel bond worth P500,000, but because she just got back from her travel to the US, she will use her earlier paid travel bond for her trip to Norway.
She also needs to formally inform or advise the CA in writing within 24 hours after her return from Norway on December 13.
The CA Special 7th Division said that Ressa is not considered a flight risk and this was proven already by the Rappler CEO.
