AMLC warns the public vs providing financial support to the CPP-NPA-NDF

THE Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) again warned the public against giving any financial or any form of support to the Communist Party of the Philippine-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) because they will face severe penalties if proven.

This comes after the Anti-Terrorism Council already identified the CPP-NPA and NDF as terrorist organizations, aside from earlier designations made by the US, European Union, Australia, UK and New Zealand branding them as terrorist groups.

The AMLC said that any individual or organization who will support the terrorist groups will face life imprisonment under Section 12 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Under Section 8 of RA 10168 or the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act (TFPSA), anyone who provides funds or financial services and other related activities will face the penalty of reclusion temporal or up to reclusion perpetua and a fine of not less than P500,000 up to P1 million.

The AMLC also emphasized that it has to authority to stop or freeze all assets and funds used for terrorism financing.
