A TOTAL of nine generals and senior officers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines were recently promoted to the next higher rank.

No less than AFP Chief of Staff, Gen. Andres Centino, led the donning of ranks ceremonies to the newly promoted generals and senior officers held recently in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General were Marine Maj. Gen. Charlton Sean Gaerlan, the incumbent The Deputy Chief of Staff-AFP (TDCS-AFP); and Air Force Maj. Gen. Fernyl Buca, commander of the Northern Luzon Command.

Furthermore, promoted to the rank of Major General were Marine Brig. Gen Noel Beleran, the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) for Education, Training and Doctrine, J-8; Army Brig. Gen. Joel Alejandro Nacnac, Internal Auditor, AFP; Army Brig. Gen. Fernando Reyeg, DCS for Operations, J-3; and Army Brig. Gen. Proceso Rebancos, Chief Engineer, AFP.

Meanwhile, promoted to the rank of Brigadier General were Air Force Col. Amado Dela Paz, deputy commander, Western Command; Army Col. Patriarch Robinson Pel, Assistant DCS for C4ISTAR Systems, AJ-6; and Army Col. Leo Edward Caranto, Assistant DCS for Logistics, AJ-4.

With these new ranks adorning our shoulders today, I am sure that I share the same commitment with my co-promotees to work harder and wiser in contributing to the attainment of our mandate to transform the AFP into a modern, world-class, and multi-capable force,” said Gaerlan as he reminded his co-promotees of the responsibility that goes with their new ranks.

Centino lauded the newly-promoted AFP generals and senior officers.

You have earned it, and you are ready for the bigger challenges of leadership that are part of this promotion. May you continue to excel in your respective fields and always bear in mind that every triumph of your respective units and offices is also a win for the whole Armed Forces,” he added.
