QCPD recovers stolen Mitsubishi Montero in Cebu City following successful operation

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), under the leadership of Acting District Director PCOL Melecio Buslig Jr., through its District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU), successfully executed a search warrant that led to the recovery of a stolen Mitsubishi Montero. The vehicle was found inside the Rivan IT Building, Sitio Perpas, V. Rama Avenue, Brgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City on March 14, 2025.

According to the report, DACU, led by PLTCOL Hector H. Ortencio, acted on intelligence regarding the whereabouts of a Mitsubishi Montero with chassis number MMBGUKHS10RH007963 and engine number 4N15UKR3829. This vehicle was one of eight (8) motor vehicles stolen during a carnapping incident at the Jetour Auto Car Dealership in Las Piñas City on September 17, 2024.

Following the report’s validation, DACU operatives proceeded to Cebu City on February 27, 2025, and confirmed the presence of the stolen Montero. Further verification on March 11, 2025, established that the vehicle matched the unit reported stolen from Las Piñas City.

Upon confirmation, DACU secured a search warrant from Branch 17 of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Cebu City. The operation was carried out on March 14, 2025, in coordination with Cebu City Police Station 9 and Barangay Guadalupe officials. The operation led to the successful recovery of the stolen Mitsubishi Montero. However, the identified possessor, Kevin Danelle Ching Lu, 38, a businessman, was not present during the operation and is currently at large.

The court of origin will be duly informed regarding the successful implementation of the search warrant. Further, appropriate charges will be filed against the identified respondent, subject to the results of the investigation.

PCOL Buslig Jr. lauded the DACU team for their commitment and hard work, stating, “This operation highlights our unwavering resolve to combat vehicle theft and ensure that those involved face the full force of the law.”
