STA. ROSA, LAGUNA – Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez said Filipino farmers will soon benefit from higher incomes and the public from more affordable food with the opening of a new plant producing locally developed biofertilizers.
At the inauguration of Agri Specialist Inc.’s Bio N facility on Sunday, Romualdez called the event a “game changer” for Philippine agriculture.
Bio N, created by UPLB scientists, is expected to reduce farmers’ dependence on expensive chemical fertilizers while boosting yields and cutting costs.
“This means cheaper inputs, higher farm income, and more affordable food for every Filipino,” Romualdez said.
The new plant will produce 7,000 metric tons of Bio N yearly, supporting rice and corn farmers across the country.
Romualdez emphasized that the project aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s push for a stronger, more self-sufficient agriculture sector.
“This is proudly Filipino-made technology, built for the Filipino farmer,” Romualdez said, urging continued investment in agricultural innovation and calling on consumers to support local produce.
“Ang Bio N—gawang Pilipino, para sa Pilipino! Magsasaka ang panalo, Pilipinas ang panalo!” he added.
