THE Associated Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP) have already asked the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – National Capital Region for a P470 wage hike for the daily minimum wage of Metro Manila workers.
The request was made amid the continued rise in prices of petroleum products.
The members of the labor group filed the petition with the office of the wage board in Manila today.
From the current minimum wage P537, the ALU-TUCP is asking that the daily wages of workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) be raised to P1,007.
According to Alan Tanjusay, ALU-TUCP spokesperson, they arrived at the amount based on a series of consultations they did, and based on estimates as to the amount workers would need, considering the prices of petroleum products that directly impacts the prices of good and services.
The ALU-TUCP is hoping that their petition would be studied carefully and their wish for a wage increase will be granted.
