The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) today advised the public to prepare for the warm and dry season.
The agency said that in the coming days, the number of dry and warm days across the country “will gradually increase, though isolated thunderstorms are also likely to occur, especially in the afternoon or evening.”
PAGASA shared that observations in several of its stations showed a gradual increase in daily temperature over most parts of the country, with prevailing winds slowly shifting direction from northeasterly to easterly.
These changes in wind patterns and and pressure systems “signal a changing of seasons, where the Northeast Monsoon will likely be over by the end of the week.”
It added that La Nina will weaken but may still affect other parts of the country. resulting to above-normal rainfall conditions for March.
PAGASA advised the public to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress, drink lots of water, and prevent any accompanying health risks commonly related to the change in season.
The agency also assured that it will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates even in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
