Second straight day of 12k-plus new COVID-19 cases today

For the second straight day, new COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 12,000 mark as the Department of Health (DOH), in its latest bulletin, registered 12,674 new cases today.

Also, DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #392 showed 593 recoveries and 225 deaths today.

The number of COVID-19 cases is now at a 853,209 total.

In the overall case tally, 22.3 percent (190,245) are active cases, 76 percent (648,220) have recovered, and 1.73 percent (14,744) have died.

The DOH also noted that 19 duplicates were removed from the total case count, with 7 recorded as recoveries and 1 is a death. Also, 49 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

A total of three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on April 9, 2021.

The DOH continues to remind the public that they should just stay at home if there is no compelling or essential reason to go out in order to stop the spread of COVID-19. The public is also advised to contact their local Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) or the One Hospital Command Center at the onset of any symptoms.
