THE Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that some provinces in the country are already experiencing a rise in the number of dengue cases.

However, DOH Spokesperson and Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the number of dengue cases in the country for the first quarter of 2022 is still lower compared to the same period last year.

Among the provinces that registered an increase in dengue cases are those in Regions 2, 6 and 11.

Included are the provinces of Iloilo and Cebu and the city of Lapu-Lapu.

For Region 9, particularly Zamboanga City, it registered the highest number of cases, which went over the so-called Epidemic Threshold, which is the reason why a dengue outbreak was declared in the city.

The DOH also reminded the public to maintain the cleanliness of their environment to protect themselves against dengue, aside from protection against other ailments.
