Rallyists who will create trouble during the inauguration will be detained — NCRPO

THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will deploy mobile jails near the venue of the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to detain rallyists who will continue to defy the law.

According to NCRPO Chief Major General Felipe Natividad, they will place individuals in these mobile jails if they will insist to disrupt the Marcos oath-taking ceremony.

“Within the vicinity of the venue, we will put a bus of the BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) in case the need arises,” says Natividad.

Natividad said that even though they respect peaceful assembly or protest actions,, it would be better if rallyists won’t use effigies in their protests.

If ever, in whatever manner they would want to embarrass the new president, we already have contingency plans for that,” Natividad explained.

He also assured that they have already completed their security preparations to secure the National Museum of the Philippines.

An estimated 18,339 personnel from the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Department of Health, and force multipliers will be deployed on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Manila Police District director Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco advised those who will conduct protests to proceed instead to designated freedom parks such as Plaza Miranda, Plaza Dilao, Plaza Moriones, and Liwasang Bonifacio.

Also, the “No Permit, No Rally” ordinance of Manila, and Batas Pambansa 880 or Public Assembly Act of 1985 on the conduct of protests should be done with the necessary permit and only in government-designated freedom parks.
