Digital infrastructure company EDOTCO Group is setting its sights on expanding its footprint in the Philippines, identifying the country as a key growth market as demand for reliable and shared telecommunications infrastructure continues to rise.
The company, which entered the Philippine market in 2019, now operates more than 3,000 towers and managed sites nationwide. It plans to build on that existing network as the country pushes ahead with its digital connectivity goals and data usage continues to climb.
As part of the expansion, EDOTCO has appointed Sunil Issac as country managing director for the Philippines. Issac brings more than 30 years of experience in telecommunications and infrastructure across Asia and previously led EDOTCO’s operations in Bangladesh, one of its largest markets.
During his tenure in Bangladesh, Issac oversaw the expansion of the company’s infrastructure network and worked with telecommunications operators, regulators and other industry stakeholders.
In his new role, he is expected to focus on strengthening customer relationships, improving operational performance and identifying opportunities to expand EDOTCO’s role in the country’s evolving digital infrastructure landscape.
EDOTCO Group CEO Adlan Tajudin said the Philippines presents significant opportunities for the company because of its economic growth, rapid digital adoption and increasing demand for connectivity.
The company said its strategy goes beyond adding more towers. It is looking to promote infrastructure sharing, network resilience and the use of technology, data and analytics to help telecommunications operators expand their networks while managing costs.
Issac said reliable telecommunications infrastructure is becoming increasingly important to businesses, government services and consumers as digital services become more embedded in everyday life.
EDOTCO also sees opportunities arising from the continued rollout of 4G and 5G networks and the growth of data-intensive services. Shared infrastructure, the company said, could allow operators to increase capacity, improve network quality and deploy services more efficiently.
The company’s Philippine expansion comes as the government advances its National Digital Connectivity Plan, which aims to create a more connected, inclusive and resilient digital ecosystem.
With its existing tower portfolio and regional experience, EDOTCO said it intends to work more closely with telecommunications operators and other stakeholders to address infrastructure gaps and support the country’s long-term digital ambitions.
