PNP registers 74th COVID-19 fatality

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded the 74th COVID-19 fatality within its ranks, a 54-year-old Police Master Sergeant from Iloilo City.

News about the fatality was announced by PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar.

Based on reports from the PNP Health Service (PNPHS), the fatality experienced symptoms such as shortness of breath on June 8, 2021. On the same date, he was admitted to a local hospital and underwent RT-PCR test which yielded positive result.

Unfortunately, the policeman succumbed to COVID-19 infection after 21 days.

PGen. Eleazar expressed his condolonces to the bereaved family of the policeman and assured them of all the assistance and benefits accorded to a member of the PNP.

Meanwhile, eight personnel suspected to be close contacts with the deceased have been identified and subjected to tests, four of whom turned out positive while the others yielded negative result.

As of June 30, the PNPHS detected 128 more infected personnel that add up the total number of PNP confirmed cases to 27, 837 with 1,771 active cases and 119 new recoveries, with 26,028 total recoveries among confirmed cases.

A total of 35,671 or 16.30 percent of PNP personnel have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine while 13,301 are now fully vaccinated.
