The Pinoy basketball star called as “The Phenom” might have to hurdle some challenges in his bid to join his younger brother in the Japan B League.
Kiefer Ravena, the former Ateneo Blue Eagle superstar who played with the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA, confirmed to join his sibling Thirdy in the basketball league in the Land of the Rising Sun yesterday but PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial disagrees.
“It’s under PBA rules. He has UPC so for me, he’s not allowed to play [in Japan],” Marcial emphasize.
Marcial also explained that Ravena signed a three-year Uniform Player’s Contract (UPC) with NLEX last September that prohibits him from playing in other leagues, in and out of the country.
Kiefer is said to have come into agreement with Japan’s Shiga Lakestar while Thirdy has already signed a multi-year contract with the San-en NeoPhoenix recently.
