Over 2M doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from COVAX arrive in the PHL

THE Philippine government on Friday received over two million AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses from the COVAX facility.

The airplane with the 2,028,000 vaccine doses planed in at the NAIA Terminal 3 a little past 4 p.m.

The vaccine shipment was welcomed by Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., National Task Force against COVID-19 chief Implementer, Department of Health Usec. Ma. Carolina Vidal-Taino, UNICEF Representative to the Philippines Oyunsaikhan Dendevnorov, USAID Mission Director Sean Callahan, and World Health Organization Representative to the Philippines Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe.

The number of AstraZeneca doses already in the Philippines is now at 5,708,100, where 1,124,100 of those doses were donated by the Japanese government which arrived yesterday, July 8 at the Villamor Airbase, while the 4,584,000 doses came from the COVAX Facility.
