THE ruling administration party Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) announced the expulsion of its vice chairman, along with two others.

Expelled were Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, who sits as the party’s vice chairman, Deputy Secretary General Melvin Matibag and Membership Committee head Astra Naik.

According to PDP-Laban executive director Ron Munsayac, Cusi, Matibad and Naik were expelled by the PDP-Laban National Executive Committee, which found sufficient reasons to believe that Cusi and the two others blatantly violated provisions stipulated under the party’s constitution and bylaws.

The expulsion of Cusi, Matibag and Naik was explained in one of the three party resolutions that were issued by Party President Manny Pacquiao and PDP Laban National Executive Committee (NEC), which constitutes the highest administrative and executive body of the party,” the announcement read.

By some twist of fate, Cusi was the same man who wanted to see Senator Manny Pacquiao, the party president, out of the ruling administration party.

As this developed, the PDP-Laban national executive committee had passed a resolution authorizing Pacquiao to create a separate committee to look into reports dragging other party members “who may have violated party Constitution or may have committed acts inimical to party by showing allegiance to another party.”

Pacquiao has earlier been reported to be facing an imminent ouster from his position as party president when the ruling administration party convenes for a general assembly on July 17.

The senator from General Santos City is currently in the United States to train for the much anticipated boxing match with Errol Spence in August.
