The Quezon City government launched today the online registration for its QCitizen ID, the all-in-one card that can be used to access various services, including the QCity Bus, health, and other social services.
In a news release distributed to media, QC City Administrator Mike Alimurung said the QCitizen ID is a unified ID for all residents. It will also replace the existing senior citizen, solo parent, and persons with disability (PWD) ID. Existing IDs will continue to be valid in the interim.
“The QCitizen ID will enable us to provide better services to citizens and allocate resources more efficiently,” said Alimurung.
“It will also be used to determine the priority list for the distribution of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine,” he added.
Alimurung said those interested in acquiring the QCitizen ID must first create an account on the city government’s E-Services portal (https://qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph) before they can apply for the QCitizen ID.
For those with no access to the internet, the city will conduct an in-person, on-the-ground registration drive in barangays in the coming weeks. QC Mayor Joy Belmonte announced that the on-the-ground registration will be piloted in Barangay Central on January 15.
“A resident cannot use a single QC E-Services account to register for multiple QCitizen IDs. A family member cannot use their own account to register parents or other relatives. They all have to register separately,” he said.
Those eligible to sign up are residents who have a government-issued ID or barangay certificate.
The city will provide all citizens with a QCitizen ID number and digital ID, but only residents 15 years old and above will be given a free physical ID card.
Mayor Belmonte, who said that the concept for the digital ID came up when she was still the city’s vice mayor, said the ID will ensure that all citizens will receive all the services offered by the city.
This will also avoid the confusion when it comes to distribution of citizen’s benefits, mentioning specifically the distribution of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Kalingang QC, the mayor said during the Facebook Live presentation at the QC Government Facebook page this afternoon.
The digital version of the ID can be accessed via the QCitizen App, which is available on Google Playstore and Apple App Store.
“The registration will give importance to those who are on the priority list for the COVID-19 vaccine – senior citizens, PWDs and frontliners,” said Belmonte.
The city government recently signed a tripartite agreement with the National Task Force Against COVID-19 and AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines for the advance purchase of COVID-19 vaccines for its citizens.
