AS part of efforts to upholding “Real Justice for All,” the Department of Justice (DOJ), led the ceremonial launch and groundbreaking of the country’s National Forensics Institute (NFI) at the University of the Philippines – Manila (UP Manila).
The NFI is seen to be as the “country’s foremost center for forensic education, research and service – supporting science-based criminal investigations and strengthening the medico-legal system” to advance the rule of law.
The NFI inauguration is a clear demonstration of the Philippine government’s pledge during the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR75) to boost forensic and medico-legal services in a bid to champion a human rights-centered governance under the Bagong Pilipinas brand of leadership with President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. at the helm.
Present during the launch were DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla, Ambassador of Australia to the Philippines H.K. Yu, UP President Angelo Jimenez and UP Manila Chancellor Dr. Michael Tee.
The activity also coincided with UP’s founding anniversary, serving as a milestone in the country’s criminal justice system and unyielding commitment to justice, truth and human rights.
