THE full force of the Manila Police District (MPD) is all set and ready for the period of filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) that will start tomorrow, October 1.

Almost 400 police personnel are on standby, ready for deployment during the 8-day filing period of COCs, according to MPD Director BGen. Leo Francisco.

As for Police Capt. Philipp Ines, MPD spokesperson, security and safety during the COC filing period must be assured, as this will be different since there is the continued threat of COVID-19.

He said the MPD is already coordinating with the Pasay City Police on security concerns within the perimeter of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the venue for the filing of COCs of aspiring candidates for president, vice president and senator.

He added that the MPD have already conducted an ocular inspection of the area where cops will be posted and determine which areas to secure.

Aside from the Sofitel perimeter, the MPD will also secure the Commission on Elections (Comelec) field office where local candidates will file their COCs..
