One week before the moratorium expires, the Power for People Coalition (P4P) is seeking a memorandum from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to formally issue an order to Meralco not to cut off power supply until December 2020.
According to Gerry Arances, Convenor of P4P, Meralco must issue a memorandum order so that Meralco could not be able to proceed with its disconnection.
“It’s been more than a week, yet there is still no memorandum and about a week from now before October 31st deadline, and without that memo, Meralco would start handing out disconnection notices, ” Arances stressed.
ERC Commissioner Agnes Devanadera said in a Senate hearing that they will ask Meralco to extend the moratorium until the end of December 2020.
According to Devanadera, they understand the crisis that consumers are going through amid the pandemic.
