Election gun ban violators now at 2,670

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said a total of 2,670 individuals have been arrested for violation of the election gun ban.

Police Colonel Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesperson, majority of those arrested were civilians.

Also confiscated from the violators are an estimated 2,019 firearms.

Fajardo said they are still trying to determine how many can be considered loose or unregistered firearms.

Meanwhile, more than 20 private armed groups (PAGs) have been dismantled by the PNP.

The PNP was also able to record a total of five confirmed election-related incidents. Fajardo said these incidents were recorded in Region 1, Region 3, Region 9, Region 10 and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
