PRESIDENTIAL spokesperson Harry Roque debunked an earlier statement of Presidential Security Group (PSG) commanding officer Jesus Durante that President Rodrigo Duterte has completed his second dose of the China-made Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.
Roque said the President’s top security aide was just “mistakenly informed.”
He added that Durante was fed with false information by the President’s medical staff. He, however, would not say who that medical staff was.
“This is in reference to the remarks of Presidential Security Group Commander Brigadier General Jesus Durante III on President Rodrigo Roa Duterte receiving a second dose of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine. General Durante has admitted, apologized and rectified his earlier remarks. We hope this clarifies the matter,” Roque told Palace reporters.
According to Durante, the President took his second dose because he [Duterte] has to.
“Si Pangulo po ay vaccinated na po siya, at napakahalaga po nito, para lalo namin siyang maingatan, lalo na magagawa niya nang maayos at tuloy-tuloy ang kanyang tungkulin, upang makapaglingkod sa ating mga kababayan,” said Durante yesterday.
The second dose, the PSG chief added, was administered exactly 14 days after the President got his first jab.
“Opo, at nai-televise naman iyon. Yeah, fourteen days after yung activity, nagkaroon po siya ng second dose,” Durante was quoted as saying.
