DOH logs below 5,000 COVID-19 cases today

The Department of Health (DOH) today reported a total of 4,734 new COVID-19 infections, the lowest since May 5 when it recorded 5,685 daily COVID-19 cases.

This brings the total COVID-19 cases in the country to a 1,113,547 total.

Active cases were also at a low 56,752

There were also 7,837 recoveries recorded today to bring the total to 1,038,175 people who recovered from the infection.

A total of 59 deaths were registered today for an 18,620 total of COVID-19 fatalities.

The DOH said the low number was caused by the low testing output of laboratories and non-submission by 12 laboratories last Sunday, May 9, 2021.

Around 13 duplicates were removed from the total case count, where 10 are recoveries and one death.

Also, 19 tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
