THE bill that created a third legislative district in the province of Bataan was signed into law Thursday night by President Rodrigo Duterte

House Bill 8664, which was authored by Bataan 2nd District Representative Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III, was enacted into law, now Republic Act 11553, which provided for the reapportionment of the Province of Bataan into three legislative districts.

With the new law, the first district is comprised of the municipalities of Abucay, Hermosa, Orani, and Samal; second district – Balanga City and the municipalities of Pilar, Orion and Limay; and the third district includes the towns of Mariveles, Bagac, Morong and Dinalupihan.

Bataan, before the signing, had two districts. The first district is composed of the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay and Morong with Congresswoman Geraldine Roman as its district representative.

The second district had Balanga City and the towns of Pilar, Orion, Limay, Mariveles and Bagac and presently represented in the Lower House by Congressman Joet Garcia.
