A TOTAL of 17,197 ballots have been cast under the local absentee voting (LAV) held last week and were received by the Committee on Local Absentee Voting of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Based on latest data from the Comelec, the most number of ballots cast came from the Philippine National Police with 9,390 ballots.

About 2,751 and 2,259 ballots came from the Philippine Army and Philippine Air Force, respectively, who joined the LAV.

However, the number of ballots received by the poll body is still far from the more than 84,000 who were allowed to vote ahead of the May 9 national and local polls.
