Back to 8K level of new COVID-19 cases in the country

THE Department of Health (DOH) today logged a total of 8,748 new COVID-19 cases in the country, which brings the overall tally to 1,209,154, according to the latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued by the agency today, May 28, 2021.

Active cases, on the other hand, shot back up to the 50k level with 53,770 according to the DOH bulletin.

There were also 3,017 recoveries recorded today to bring the total to 1,134,818 the number of Filipinos who recovered from the deadly virus from Wuhan, China.

Hiowever, 187 people perished today to bring to 20,566 the number of COVID-19 fatalities.

All laboratories were operational on May 26, 2021 while four laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the four laboratories that failed to operate contribute, on average, 1.1 percent of samples tested and 2.8 percent of positive individuals.

There were also 24 duplicates removed from the total case count, with 19 of them listed as recoveries.

Moreover, 122 cases tagged earlier as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
