The Philippine National Football Team (Men’s), popularly known as the Azkals, will kick off their training camp in Doha, Qatar today, 22 until 31 May 2021 as they prepare for three (03) remaining matches in the joint FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers in Suzhou, China from 03 to 15 June 2021.
Twenty-five (25) players had their call-ups for this training camp, including Azkals veteran goalkeeper Neil Etheridge and midfielder Stephan Schrock, who were named the team’s vice-captain and captain, respectively.
New faces gracing the training camp are Europe-based quartet Gerrit Holtmann, Jesper Nyholm, Raphael Obermair, and Lloyd Fagerlie.
Currently, in third place under Group A, the Philippine Azkals level on points with host China, and Syria leading the group after getting all the 15 points from their last 5 games. The Azkals are scheduled to face Guam on 03 June 2021, China on 09 June 2021, and the Maldives on 15 June 2021.
