DAILY COVID-19 cases were estimated to be 17 percent lower compared to last week or from April 12 tpop April 18.

According to Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, average daily cases was only at 224 compared to last week’s 271.

Vergeire also pointed out that positivity rate or the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country remained at 1.6 percent.

The DOH official also said that with the present number of active COVID-19 cases in the country, around 18,672 are asymptomatic or experiencing only mild symptoms while the severe and critical cases declined to 1,251.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) utilization rate, on the other hand, remained at low risk at 16 percent and total beds utilization at 17 percent nationwide.

Vergeire said the decline in the number of daily cases and lesser number of hospitalizations is proof that vaccines work against COVID-19 so the public is advised to take booster shots as soon as it is available.
