AN estimated more than P1-billion worth of suspected shabu was confiscated by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) from two drug suspects, including a Chinese national after the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Valenzuela City.
PDEA Director General and Undersecretary Wilkins Villanueva identified the suspects as Tianzhul Yu from Fujian, China and Meliza Villanueva from Concepcion, province of Tarlac.
According to Dir. Gen. Villanueva, it was around 3:30 p.m. when combined operatives from the PDEA Intelligence Service (PDEA-IS), PDEA Regional Office – National Capital Region (PDEA RO-NCR), PDEA Regional Office -3 (PDEA RO-3) PDEA Special Enforcement Service (SES), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group-Intelligence and Foreign Liaison Division(PDEG-IFLD), PNP Regional Office-3 (RO3), Valenzuela Police Station, and Valenzuela ALERT Center conducted the buy-bust operation along J.P. Rizal St., Arty Subdivision, Brgy., Karutahan that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
Confiscated by the PDEA operatives from the suspects were more than an estimated 160 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P1.088 billion, buy-bust money and three mobile phones.
According to Villanueva, the area is the possible source of drugs they confiscated during the past few days in Cavite, Bulacan, Cebu and Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
He said the two are part of the transnational drug syndicate called “The Company.” “The company is operating in South East Asia and their source came from the Golden Triangle,” he added.
Overall, there were about 231.2 kilograms of suspected shabu worth an estimated P1.57 billion were confiscated from the anti-drug operation.
The arrested suspects will be charged with violation of Sec. 5 &11 of Art. II of RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian praised the PDEA for their successful drug buy-bust operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspects that brought illegal drugs into the city.
“The city government of Valenzuela has assured that its drive against prohibited drugs will continue, and maintain its close coordination with the Valenzuela police and authorities,” the mayor said.
