Manila, Philippines – Former President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested upon his arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on the morning of March 11, 2025, following an official warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
According to a statement from the Philippine government, INTERPOL Manila received an official copy of the arrest warrant from the ICC in the early hours of the day. Duterte, who was traveling from Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific Flight CX 907, landed in Manila at 9:20 AM when authorities served the warrant.
ICC Warrant for Crimes Against Humanity
Upon his arrival, the Prosecutor General formally presented Duterte with the ICC’s notification of the warrant, which was issued for alleged crimes against humanity linked to the thousands of extrajudicial killings under his administration’s controversial war on drugs.
