MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) 1st Division has dismissed the petition seeking to disqualify Rep. Erwin Tulfo from running in the May 2025 senatorial race, citing the petitioner’s failure to comply with procedural requirements.
Tulfo welcomed the decision, expressing gratitude to both the Almighty and the COMELEC for what he described as a fair and just ruling. He emphasized that the dismissal of the case upholds the integrity of the electoral process and underscores the importance of following due process.
“I firmly stand by the independence and impartiality of COMELEC. This decision reinforces the Commission’s strong commitment to justice and the preservation of the credibility of our democratic institutions,” Tulfo said in a statement.
With the case now resolved, Tulfo said he remains focused on his work as a public servant, pledging to continue serving Filipinos with integrity and dedication. He also thanked his supporters for their trust and encouragement.
The dismissed petition had sought to challenge Tulfo’s candidacy, but with the ruling in his favor, he is set to push forward with his senatorial bid in the upcoming elections.
