The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the driver’s license of George Royeca, co-founder and chief operating officer of motorcycle ride-hailing firm Angkas, following a February 2 traffic incident in Cainta, Rizal.
LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza initially stated that Royeca’s license had been revoked after he admitted to organizing the Angkas motorcade. However, the LTO’s Public Information Office later clarified that his license was only suspended for 90 days.
The suspension stems from a viral video showing throngs of Angkas riders allegedly blocking traffic at an intersection in Cainta to allow their convoy to pass. Mendoza confirmed that Royeca admitted to organizing the event and later surrendered to the LTO, taking responsibility for the incident.
Mendoza also noted that some Angkas riders involved are under investigation to determine their specific roles in the traffic disruption.
