Excitement is building as the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Fun Run 2025 kicks off this Sunday, January 26, 2025, promising a vibrant celebration of community spirit, physical fitness, and civic engagement.
Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah “Mina” F. Pangandaman highlighted the alignment of OGP’s principles with the “Bagong Pilipinas” governance agenda. “These principles are foundational to the OGP and closely align with PBBM’s governance agenda. This is about stepping forward with conviction, advancing transparency, and participation in governance,” she said.
The OGP Fun Run serves as both a health and wellness initiative and a platform to champion open government values. It also sets the stage for the upcoming PH-OGP Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM), scheduled to be held in Manila in February 2025.
In collaboration with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), the DBM has organized this first-of-its-kind community event. “The MMDA is one with the DBM in organizing the Open Government Fun Run, which serves as an avenue for the public to gather and show support for initiatives that enhance government accountability, transparency, and social reforms,” said MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes.
PRC Chairman Dick Gordon expressed his gratitude for the event, stating, “We sincerely thank Secretary Amenah Pangandaman and MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes for their support of the PRC’s life-saving causes. Every step in this Fun Run is a contribution to our programs, enabling us to serve more vulnerable communities across the country.”
Supported by prominent partners such as San Miguel Corporation, Philippine Airlines, Coca-Cola, and more, the OGP Fun Run features three race categories—3 km, 5 km, and 10 km—around the iconic Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park (Luneta).
The event will begin at 4:00 AM with warm-up activities leading to the race, and all proceeds will go toward PRC’s humanitarian programs, making every stride a step toward a brighter, more inclusive future.
