Dragnet operation leads to arrest of 2 robbery suspects in Makati City

TWO robbery suspects were apprehended by Makati City Police early this morning following a swift dragnet operation in response to a reported robbery involving two Japanese nationals.

The suspects, Wendell, 26, and Jeffrey, 23, were arrested at approximately 6:50 AM on November 8, 2024, along Don Chino Roces Avenue near Makati Cinema Square in Barangay Pio Del Pilar, Makati City.

According to the police report, two Japanese nationals, ages 62 and 33, reported the robbery to Sub-station 3 after being held up the previous night around 8:45 PM along Don Chino Roces Avenue.

Based on the victims’ information, authorities quickly launched an operation to locate the suspects.

At around 6:50 AM, officers spotted a motorcycle that matched the victims’ description.

The suspects, riding a plateless motorcycle, attempted to evade authorities but were ultimately stopped.

During the arrest, police recovered an X9 9mm firearm with a serial number and a magazine containing five live rounds from Wendell.

Jeffrey was found carrying P10,000 in P1,000 bills and a replica firearm.

The victims positively identified the suspects as the perpetrators of the robbery.

Both suspects are now facing charges of Robbery and Illegal Possession of Firearms.

Police Brig. General Bernard R. Yang, District Director, commended the Makati City Police for their swift response in capturing the suspects, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.

He also emphasized that additional measures will be implemented to safeguard foreign nationals in Southern Metro Manila.
