Budget chief among top-performing Philippine officials, survey shows

DEPARTMENT of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah “Mina” Pangandaman has been recognized as one of the top-rated officials in President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet, achieving an impressive 89.4% performance rating in the third-quarter “Boses ng Bayan” survey by RPMD Foundation Inc., up from 88% in the previous quarter.

Conducted from September 20-30, 2024, the independent, non-commissioned survey highlights the Budget Secretary’s dedication to transparency, good governance, and efficient budget management.

“Rankings aside, lalo nating pagbubutihin ang trabaho. We will work even harder in pursuing fiscal reforms and strategic, open governance. Ito po ay para sa ating mga kababayan,” Pangandaman stated, reaffirming her commitment to serving the Filipino people.

Securing third place in the survey, Secretary Pangandaman plays a key role in advancing initiatives aligned with the administration’s goals for a more progressive and resilient “Bagong Pilipinas.”

She follows Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. and Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian, who earned the highest ratings at 95.8% and 93.5%, respectively.

Pangandaman’s leadership in enhancing public financial management and her advocacy for women’s empowerment in governance have earned widespread public appreciation, positioning her as an influential figure within and beyond the DBM.

Her commitment to fiscal accountability and efficient budget allocation bolsters the administration’s vision for sustainable development, positively impacting communities nationwide.

The nationwide survey gathered insights from 10,000 adults, with a ±1% margin of error and a 95% confidence level, providing a reliable snapshot of public sentiment. The results reflect a notable increase in public approval for the administration, with all Cabinet members scoring above the passing mark—demonstrating the government’s commitment to transparency and effective public service.
