THE anti-COVID-19 vaccine of Chinese firm Sinovac was recently given an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use on children 6-17 years old.
This was confirmed by Department of Health (DOH) boss Francisco Duque III on the granting of the EUA for CoronaVac, the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine brand for use on the pediatric age group classification.
In a statement, IP Biotech Group chairman Enrique Gonzalez said the vaccine to be used on children will be of the same dosage as that used on adults, and shall be administered in two doses.
He likewise vouched for the safety and reliability of the CoronaVac vaccine for children, he continued.
CoronaVac’s efficacy was placed at 74 percent based on a study done on 1.9 million 6-17 year-old children in Chile.
