Next alert level for NCR, other areas to be announced Feb. 13 or Valentine’s Day — IATF

THE Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) will announce the new alert level for the National Capital Region (NCR) and other areas of the country on February 13 or February 14, Valentine’s Day.

This was announced by Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles after another meeting with the IATF to see the latest numbers and data from different regions of the country, including the NCR.

Tomorrow, February 10, Thursday, will be the regular meeting of the IATF, and another meeting will be held, possibly over the weekend, for them to see incoming new data before making the announcement ahead of February 15.

According to Nograles, the IATF wanted to see the latest numbers closer to February 15 before making its final decision on what alert level will be implemented starting February 16 up to the end of the month.

The NCR and other provinces are currently at Alert Level 2.

According to experts, it would be good to maintain Alert Level 2 status for Metro Manila and other parts of the country for the remaining days of February. This is to enable them to see if the number of COVID-19 cases will continue to decline in the next weeks and safely declare a lower alert level.
