Three venues being eyed by Comelec for president, VP debates

AT LEAST three venues are being eyed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as possible locations for the planned debates between candidates for the presidency and vice presidency for the May 9 national and local elections.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said the Comelec en banc is also studying if the debate can be done in Visayas and Mindanao but this depends on the situation due to the pandemic.

A live media audience is prohibited during the debates.

Jimenez adds that the Comelec is eyeing the use of a platform where the candidate will stand and speak on issues safely even without the use of a face mask.
