Almost P1-M worth of shabu nabbed in Cavite buy bust; party list nominee among the suspects

AN estimated almost P2 million worth of suspected shabu were confiscated and three suspects were arrested, including a party-list nominee and a minor during a buy-bust operation in Dasmarinas City, Cavite Monday afternoon.

The arrested suspects were identified as Asrap Kamad Kasan Datu (ASRAP), a nominee of party-list group Peoples Volunteer Against Illegal Drug  (PVAID) (Number 39); Jerklie Abdulkarim (Datu), said to be the party-list group’s regional director, and a 17-year-old minor (Tato).

In a report by the National Bureau of Investigation-Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (NBI-TFAID), it said that last January 23, they received information that Datu will sell shabu worth P900,000 to an informant so the group immediately mounted a buy-bust operation.

In January 24, Datu and the informant agreed to fetch a friend identified as Asrap along Roxas Boulvard in Pasay City before proceeding to Dasmarinas City

Aboard a Nissan Sentra driven by an NBI-TFAID operative, the group fetched Asrap and proceeded to Paliparan III, Dasmarinas City, Cavite wherein the P900,000 worth of shabu will be given.

Upon arriving at the area, Tato, the one whom Datu spoke with, entered the vehicle and gave Asrap a small box that contains shabu. That was when the suspects were arrested by joint operatives from the NBI-TFAID, Philippine Drug  Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and e PNP-Cavite Provincial Office.

Seized from Datu, Asrap and Tato were 293.5185 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P999,800.

The suspects now face charges of violation of Secs. 5 and 11 of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)..
