A MOTION for partial reconsideration was filed with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in relation to its decision to dismiss a petition seeking for the cancellation of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) of presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

The group of petitioners led by Fr. Christian Buenafe, Fides Lim, Ma. Edeliza Hernandez, Celia Sevilla, Roland Vibal and Josephine Lascano sought to reverse the decision of the Comelec in its 28-page motion filed with the poll body.
The motion is particularly asking if the decision of the Comelec’s Second Division is correct in saying that Marcos Jr. is eligible to run for president and was not convicted of a crime that comes with a penalty of perpetual disqualification from running for public office, and if the ruling was correct in saying that there was no intention on the part of Marcos Jr. to confuse and deceive voters.
Aside from their petition to reverse the Comelec’s decision rendered last January 17, the petitioners are seeking for the total cancellation of the COC of Marcos, and that his name be removed from the list of official candidates and from the official ballots to be used for Election 2022.
