COMMISSIONER Socorro Inting will assume the post of Commission of Elections (Comelec) acting chairman next month.
She will assume the position starting February 3, 2022.
This is until President Rodrigo Duterte is able to choose the next head of the poll body after the retirement of current Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas on February 2, 2022.
According to Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, Inting is considered the most senior among Comelec commmissioners.
Aside from Chairman Abas, also set for retirement are commissioners Guanzon and Antonio Kho Jr. on February 2, or about three months before the elections on May 9, 2022.
