A HIGHER level of antibody count was seen among individuals who received booster shots using AstraZeneca and Pfizer anti-COVID-19 vaccines.
The result was based on studies done in Sao Paulo, Brazil among 1,200 participants.
According to infectious disease expert Dr. Rontgene Solante and Dr. Mario Jiz, chief of the immunology department of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), the participants’ level of antibodies rose by more than 40 times after they were given booster doses from the two vaccine brands.
Dr. Jiz said the antibodies are important because these will help people not to contract COVID-19 even if they were exposed to people with the dreaded disease.
The two experts also pointed to the increase in the number of T-cells that fight against infection once the booster doses are administered.
In a separate study done in the United Kingdom, experts pointed out to the increase in protection against COVID-19 for those who received booster doses using different vaccine brands.
