Manila LGU looking at free entrance to the new-look Manila Zoo for January

THERE is a possibility that entrance to the newly refurbished Manila Zoo be provided free for the month of January once it is fully opened to the public.

The city government of Manila said it is looking at the possibility of “free entrance for January” to provide Filipinos the opportunity to go to the zoo after a long period of lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“While we want you to enjoy the new zoo, we don’t want you to spend much. We understand that not too many people have money because of hardships in life,” according to Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso.

The rehabilitated Manila Zoo is expected to open by January next year, with an entrance fee of P200 for non-Manila residents from the previous P100.

The zoo will have a soft opening on December 30 for the workers who worked in the renovation of the zoo, including their familie.s

Domagoso asked the public to give them 48 hours after December 30, and then they will make a public announcement before or on January 1 in terms of the number of people that will be allowed to enter the zoo.
