Archdiocese of Manila announces second collection for “Odette” victims

THE Archdiocese of Manila today announced that there will be a second collection during Masses for the benefit and in solidarity with efforts to help victims of Typhoon Odette.

In a circular, Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula instructed all parish priests, rectors and chaplains to conduct a second collection during all Masses for the Fourth Sunday of Advent.

The second collection started last night and today, December 19, 2021.

Collections will be submitted to the Accounting Office of the Arzobispado De Manila until December 22, 2021.

As we pray for the victims of Typhoon Odette hitting several Arch/Dioceses of the Visayas and Mindanao, we will also help in the alleviation of their pains,” a portion of the circular letter of Cardinal Advincula reads.

The prelate also assured that the offering of prayers for the safety of the typhoon’s victims will continue, especially now that everyone is preparing for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Caritas Manila, the social action arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, already allotted P2.5 million as initial assistance to provinces severely damaged by Typhoon Odette.

Meanwhile, Radio Veritas and Caritas Manila urged the faithful and all citizens to participate in a “telethon” to be conducted for the benefit of typhoon victims.

The telethon will be aired live over Radio Veritas 846AM, Skycable, DZRV.ph at 7 am up to 6 pm on Monday, December 20, 2021.

Funds to be collected from the telethon will be sent to the typhoon victims to help them recover from the effects of the typhoon.
