NEW COVID-19 cases dropped to 12,751 today, according to the Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, September 8, 2021.
The DOH said it encountered technical issues in the extraction of updated data from COVIDKaya yesterday, September 7, 2021, which explains the relatively low numbers reported today. This issue is currently being resolved with the Department of Information and Communications Technology so the public. We can expect higher numbers in the next few days as we resolve the issue.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to a total of 2,134,005 cases.
Also, the number of active cases was at 151,135 cases, much lower than yesterday’s 158,637 count. Active cases or patients are those undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
However, 174 COVID-19 deaths were registered today, higher than yesterday’s 161 total. This brings the total number of COVID-19 fatalities today to 34,672.
The DOH also listed 20,151 recoveries today, higher than yesterday’s 18,945 count.
Total recoveries, on the other hand, is now at 1,948,198 individuals.
However, positivity rate remained at 28.1 percent from yesterday’s 28.1 percent rate, with 57,260 people who were tested.
Majority, or 95.3 percent of the cases, are mild and asymptomatic.
A total of 54 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 46 were recoveries.
Also, 80 cases tagged earlier as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
All laboratories were operational on September 6, 2021 while five laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the five non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 2.2 percent of samples tested and 2.7 percent of positive individuals.
The agency continues to remind the public to ensure their safety and to strictly observe safety protocols and to have themselves vaccinated as soon as possible. The DOH also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
