The number of new COVID-19 cases today did not breach the 8,000-mark but nevertheless still flirted near that number.
A day after registering the highest number of COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, the latest Department of Health (DOH) Case Bulletin today, March 21 (Sunday), reported a slightly lower number of 7,757 new cases compared to yesterday’s 7,999 count.
This brings to 663,794 the total number of people afflicted with the COVID-19 disease in the country.
However, with the DOH’s “Oplan Recovery,” there were 15,288 people who recovered from the diseases, which upped the total to 577,754 in terms of total recoveries.
But the total number of deaths from COVID-19 reached a total of 12,968 after an additional 39 deaths today.
The number of active cases is still slighly high at 73,072 even if a large number of recoveries were reported because of Oplan Recovery.
In relation to the continued rise of the number of COVID-19 cases in the country, the DOH said this neeeds prompt action to prevent the further increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.
The DOH advised people to immediately consult the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams or BHERTs as soon as they experience COVID-19 symptoms or call the One Hospital Command Center Hotline at (02)-886-505-00, 0915-777-7777 and 0919-977-3333.
Also, the DOH reminds everyone to strictly follow the proper safety and health protocols for their own safety.
