TWO more police personnel arrested in two separate operations face dismissal for their involvement in illegal activities.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar has ordered the PNP’s Internal Affairs Service (IAS) to expedite the investigation on the two cops from Rizal and Quezon City.
A report that reached the Office of the Chief PNP said Police Staff Sgt. Ariel Yalung was arrested in Quezon City during the operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against the illegal sale and overpricing of Tocilizumab, a drug being used to treat COVID-19 patients.
The NBI operation was conducted based on the complaint that two people were selling Tocilizumab online for P95,000. The suggested price of the medicine is P25,000.
Police Staff Sgt. June Angeles, on the other hand, was arrested by operatives of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), in an entrapment after he was accused of demanding money from the spouse of one of the detainees in San Mateo, Rizal.
“I will make sure that these two officers from our ranks will be dismissed from the service because of these illegal activities,” said PGen Eleazar.
“They are now detained and are facing criminal and administrative charges, and we promise that we will continue cleansing our ranks of undesirables,” he added.
PGen Eleazar called on the public to immediately report if they have information on police officers involved in unscrupulous activities.
